GUIDING

Join King Tide for a day of guided salt water fly fishing chasing some of New Zealands premier sports fish species. Kingfish, kahawai, snapper, trevally and more are all on the doorstep of one of New Zealands best ranked harbour and inshore fisheries.

We mainly focus on shallow water “Ray Riders”. The Kingfish are known to follow behind the Black Stingrays patrolling the harbour sand flats. At times groups of 3-15 kingfish will tag along, waiting to ambush any prey stirred up by the passing ray. It’s serious heart in mouth adrenalin as the pack turns on your fly and shoulder each other for pole position.

Another species that we are fond of here is the humble kahawai. These fish fight hard, get aerial and school in massive proportions at times. An excellent light tackle opponent and sometimes so selective you can throw your entire fly box at a football field of them with minimal luck.

High quality gear from Manic Tackle Project include Scott fly rods, Lamson and Hatch reels spooled with Airflo lines. These fish and the salt environment test gear to its limits day in, day out and need to be up to the task. All equipment is provided for the day but if you want to bring your own please consult prior to departure.

Multi day, destination and freshwater trips also arranged upon request. We can tailor a package to keep you on your toes and sample some of the very best fly fishing locations the central/upper North Island has on offer.

Drop me a line via the contact page and we can get you on the water and into the action.
